Why I Created Zindagi Se Guftegu: An Urdu/Hindi Podcast About Healing, Gratitude, and the Human Experience

A few months ago, I found myself reflecting on something I had noticed over and over again.

Many of the conversations that had transformed my own life were happening almost entirely in English.

Conversations about mindfulness. Gratitude. Emotional healing. Meditation. Self-awareness. Conscious living. Relationships. Inner peace.

Yet when I thought about many of the people I care about most, especially older family members, friends, and members of the South Asian community, I realized that much of this wisdom was simply not reaching them in a language and style that felt natural and accessible.

That realization stayed with me.

As someone who grew up between cultures and languages, I began asking myself a simple question:

What would it look like to create a space where these conversations could happen in Urdu and Hindi, in a way that felt warm, relatable, and free from religious or ideological divisions?

That question eventually became Zindagi Se Guftegu.

The name means "A Conversation with Life."

And that is exactly what I hope this podcast becomes.

Not a lecture.

Not a debate.

Not a self-help seminar.

Simply an ongoing conversation about being human.

A conversation about healing, gratitude, relationships, purpose, growth, challenges, and finding peace within ourselves while navigating the complexities of modern life.

My hope is that listeners from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and South Asian communities around the world can find something meaningful, practical, and comforting within these conversations.

The Conversations I Wish We Had More Often

As I looked around, I realized that many of us spend years discussing careers, education, finances, politics, religion, and responsibilities.

But there are other conversations that often get pushed into the background.

Conversations like:

  • How do we find peace during difficult times?

  • Why do we overthink so much?

  • How can we be more grateful without ignoring life's challenges?

  • How do we heal from emotional pain?

  • What creates meaningful relationships?

  • How do we balance ambition with contentment?

  • What does it mean to live a fulfilled life?

These questions are deeply human.

They affect everyone regardless of age, religion, nationality, profession, or background.

Yet many people carry these questions alone.

One of the goals of this Urdu podcast and Hindi podcast is to create space for these conversations in a way that feels safe, practical, and relatable.

Because healing often begins when we realize we are not the only ones asking these questions.

Emotional Wellbeing

Many people silently struggle with stress, anxiety, self-criticism, burnout, and emotional overwhelm.

From the outside, everything may appear fine.

Inside, however, there can be constant mental noise.

The podcast explores ways of relating to our thoughts and emotions with greater awareness, compassion, and understanding.

Gratitude

Gratitude has become a popular buzzword, but true gratitude is much deeper than simply listing things we are thankful for.

It is a way of relating to life.

A way of recognizing beauty, growth, lessons, and blessings even during difficult seasons.

Many episodes explore how gratitude can transform the way we experience everyday life.

Relationships

Relationships shape so much of our happiness.

Whether with spouses, parents, children, friends, or ourselves, the quality of our relationships often determines the quality of our lives.

Through stories, reflections, and conversations, I hope to explore how we can create healthier and more meaningful connections.

Purpose

At some point, many people ask:

"Is there more to life than simply getting through the week?"

Purpose does not always arrive as a grand revelation.

Sometimes it emerges through small acts of service, growth, creativity, love, and contribution.

These are the kinds of conversations I hope to encourage through the podcast.

Inner Peace

We live in a world that constantly pulls our attention outward.

Notifications.

News.

Expectations.

Responsibilities.

Yet many people are quietly searching for something much simpler:

Peace.

The ability to sit with themselves without feeling overwhelmed.

The ability to experience life more fully in the present moment.

That search for inner peace is a recurring theme throughout the show.

Why South Asian Communities Need These Conversations

As a South Asian podcast, one of my biggest motivations was recognizing some of the unique challenges many of us face.

While every family and culture is different, there are certain experiences that many South Asians can relate to.

Cultural Pressures

Many people grow up carrying expectations around success, education, career, marriage, reputation, and family responsibilities.

These expectations often come from love and good intentions.

Yet they can also create pressure.

Sometimes that pressure becomes stress.

Sometimes it becomes anxiety.

Sometimes it becomes a feeling that we are never quite doing enough.

Success Expectations

Achievement is often celebrated within our communities.

There is nothing wrong with ambition.

But many people eventually discover that external success alone does not guarantee fulfillment.

A person can have a good job, financial stability, and professional accomplishments while still feeling disconnected from themselves.

That is why conversations around emotional wellbeing and self-discovery are so important.

Family Dynamics

Family is one of the greatest strengths of South Asian culture.

It can also be one of its greatest challenges.

Family relationships are often complex, layered, and deeply emotional.

Learning how to navigate boundaries, communication, forgiveness, expectations, and understanding is a lifelong journey.

Mental and Emotional Wellbeing

For many years, conversations around emotional wellbeing and South Asian mental health were not always openly discussed.

Thankfully that is changing.

More people are recognizing the importance of emotional health, self-awareness, and seeking support when needed.

I hope this podcast can contribute to that growing conversation.

Balancing Tradition and Modern Life

Many people today are trying to honor their roots while navigating modern realities.

We want to respect tradition.

We also want authenticity.

We want connection.

We also want freedom.

Finding balance between these worlds can sometimes feel challenging.

These are exactly the kinds of topics I hope to explore through thoughtful and compassionate conversations.

What Makes Zindagi Se Guftegu Different

There are many wonderful podcasts available today.

My intention was not to create another platform for telling people what to believe.

Instead, I wanted to create a space for reflection.

Non-Religious

The podcast is not tied to any religion.

Listeners from all backgrounds are welcome.

Non-Sectarian

The show does not promote any particular sect, ideology, or spiritual path.

The focus is on universal human experiences.

Universal Wisdom

Wisdom can come from many places.

Meditation.

Psychology.

Personal experience.

Relationships.

Ancient traditions.

Modern science.

Everyday life.

I believe we can learn from all of them.

Practical and Accessible

The goal is not complexity.

The goal is clarity.

I want listeners to walk away with ideas they can actually apply in their daily lives.

Stories and Reflections

Rather than teaching doctrine, I prefer sharing stories, observations, experiences, and reflections.

Often the most powerful lessons emerge naturally when people are invited to think for themselves.

The Influence of Meditation, Gratitude, and Conscious Living

Many of the ideas explored on the podcast have been influenced by my own journey.

Vipassana Meditation

One of the most profound influences on my life has been Vipassana meditation. In fact, the initial inspiration for Zindagi Se Guftegu emerged during a recent one-day Vipassana retreat, where I found myself reflecting on the kinds of conversations that truly help people grow, heal, and reconnect with themselves.

Vipassana taught me the importance of observing experience without immediately reacting to it.

It taught me that awareness itself can be deeply healing.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is not simply a meditation practice.

It is a way of living.

It is learning to pay attention.

To notice.

To become more present.

Many episodes explore how mindfulness can transform everyday experiences.

Self-Reflection

Growth often begins with honest self-reflection.

Not self-judgment.

Not self-criticism.

Simply curiosity.

The willingness to understand ourselves more deeply.

Learning from Everyday Life

Some of life's greatest lessons do not come from books or teachers.

They come from ordinary moments.

A conversation.

A challenge.

A relationship.

A mistake.

A moment of gratitude.

The podcast often explores these simple but profound lessons.

Along the way, I have also been influenced by teachings and perspectives from works such as Conversations with God, Abraham Hicks, Soul Speaks, consciousness studies, gratitude practices, and many other approaches to personal growth and spiritual exploration.

Not because they provide all the answers.

But because they encourage meaningful questions.

My Hope for Every Listener

If someone listens to an episode and feels even slightly lighter, calmer, or more understood, I consider that a success.

My hope is that listeners leave feeling:

Less Alone

Many struggles become easier when we realize others share them.

More Peaceful

Not because life becomes perfect, but because we learn to relate to life differently.

More Self-Aware

Greater awareness often leads to better decisions, healthier relationships, and deeper fulfillment.

More Grateful

Gratitude has the power to change our perspective without requiring our circumstances to change first.

More Present

Life happens here.

Not in yesterday.

Not in tomorrow.

Here.

Now.
