🧠 “My Clients Aren’t Going Under” - What’s Really Happening in QHHT Sessions

One of the most common fears new practitioners experience is this:

“What if my client can’t go under?”

Or worse…

“What if I’m doing something wrong?”

And honestly?

Almost every practitioner eventually goes through this phase.

Recently, I came across a discussion from an intern practitioner struggling after several successful sessions. Suddenly, three clients in a row either:

  • stayed too conscious

  • came out repeatedly

  • or couldn’t access imagery deeply enough

And what stood out most wasn’t the problem itself…

👉 it was what the conversation revealed about what actually creates depth in sessions.

Because in many cases:

❌ the issue is not hypnosis

❌ not the client

❌ and not “lack of ability”

It’s usually:

👉 pacing

👉 pressure

👉 nervous system safety

👉 and conscious mind interference

🌊 The Biggest Mistake Practitioners Make

Many practitioners think:

👉 “If the client isn’t seeing enough, I need to do MORE.”

More:

  • techniques

  • questions

  • guidance

  • effort

But paradoxically…

👉 too much “doing” often pulls clients out of trance

Especially analytical clients.

🧠 The Conscious Mind Is Usually the Real Issue

Logical or analytical clients are often not “bad subjects.”

They simply:

  • analyze constantly

  • monitor the process

  • judge their responses

  • try to “do it correctly”

And the moment they begin trying…

👉 they often disconnect from the experience itself

This is why some clients:

  • briefly access imagery

  • then suddenly “come back” consciously

They move from:

👉 experiencing

back into:

👉 analyzing

⚡ One of the Most Important Insights: Slow Down

One practitioner in the discussion pointed out something extremely important:

Dolores was much slower than many practitioners realize.

And honestly…

this is one of the biggest things I’ve noticed too.

New practitioners often:

  • speak too quickly

  • ask questions too fast

  • don’t leave enough silence

  • move the client before the imagery stabilizes

But trance deepens:

👉 in the pauses

Not the speed.

🌿 Silence Is Part of the Session

Many practitioners become uncomfortable with silence.

So they:

  • rush to the next question

  • over-guide

  • interrupt processing

But silence is often:

👉 where the subconscious begins opening

Especially for clients who need time to:

  • feel

  • visualize

  • process internally

🧘‍♂️ Your Nervous System Affects Theirs

This is huge.

Clients unconsciously follow:

👉 your rhythm

👉 your confidence

👉 your emotional state

If the practitioner begins thinking:

“Oh no… they’re not deep enough…”

The client often feels that subtle pressure.

And then:

👉 they try harder

Which pulls them further into the conscious mind.

One of the deepest lessons in QHHT is this:

👉 trance happens through allowing, not forcing

🌊 The Session Is Not a Performance

Sometimes practitioners become attached to:

  • getting “good material”

  • dramatic past lives

  • deep visuals

  • perfect sessions

But this creates hidden pressure.

And clients feel it.

The irony is:

👉 some of the deepest sessions begin very subtly

🧠 What Dolores Cannon Repeatedly Emphasized

From studying Dolores’ work, one thing becomes clear:

👉 relaxation is everything

Not perfection.

Not psychic ability.

Not “special gifts.”

Many clients actually enter trance naturally…

once they stop trying to achieve something.

⚡ Analytical Clients Often Need LESS Guidance

This surprises many practitioners.

But highly analytical clients often do better when:

  • given more time

  • fewer interruptions

  • softer pacing

  • more encouragement

  • and less pressure to “perform”

Simple reassurance like:

“You’re doing great.”“Just describe whatever comes naturally.”“Don’t analyze it.”

can dramatically help.

🌿 Depth Is Built Before the Induction

Another important insight from the discussion:

👉 the interview matters more than most practitioners realize

The interview:

  • builds trust

  • regulates the nervous system

  • reduces fear

  • softens resistance

  • and creates emotional safety

Many “induction problems” actually begin:

👉 before the induction ever starts

🧠 The Practitioner Is Also Being Trained

One of the most comforting truths for interns:

👉 difficult sessions are part of the training

Not evidence of failure.

In fact…

many practitioners improve the most:

  • after challenging sessions

  • after resistant clients

  • and after moments of uncertainty

Because that’s when you begin refining:

  • pacing

  • energy

  • confidence

  • intuition

  • and presence

🌊 What I’m Personally Seeing Across Practitioners

After speaking with hundreds of practitioners recently, I’ve noticed something interesting:

The practitioners who improve fastest are not necessarily the ones who:

  • know the most theory

  • memorize scripts perfectly

  • or obsess over techniques

It’s usually the ones who:

  • stay calm

  • keep practicing

  • observe patterns

  • learn from real sessions

  • and stop panicking when things aren’t “perfect”

⚡ Sometimes the Client Is Going Under

Another important realization:

Many clients actually ARE in trance…

they just don’t realize it.

Because people expect hypnosis to feel:

  • unconscious

  • dreamlike

  • or dramatic

But often trance feels:

👉 subtle

👉 natural

👉 relaxed

👉 and surprisingly normal

This is why reassurance matters so much.

🌌 Final Thought

If you’re struggling with clients “not going under”…

take a breath.

This does not mean:

❌ you’re failing

❌ you’re not meant for this work

❌ or your sessions are broken

Often it simply means:

👉 you’re learning the deeper art of allowing

And honestly…

that may be one of the most important parts of becoming a practitioner.
